No. Every tool runs in your web browser. Open the tool, add your file and download the result.

Any device with an up-to-date browser, including Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS. On a phone, Scan to PDF can use your camera to capture paper documents.

You can upload up to 100 MB and up to 20 files in a single request, and processing stops after five minutes. For very large documents, try Compress PDF or Split PDF first.

Each upload is processed in its own temporary workspace on our server. As soon as your result has been sent back to you, the workspace is deleted together with your original files and the result. We never keep copies. The Privacy Policy has the full details.

No. We don’t store files, so there is nothing to recover. Download your result straight away and keep your original.

Files travel over an encrypted HTTPS connection, are handled only by software and are deleted right after processing. Compare PDF never uploads your documents at all. If your organisation has rules about online tools, follow them.

No. Your documents are used only to perform the task you ask for, and then they are deleted.

We don’t set cookies for visitors and we don’t use analytics, advertising or tracking scripts.

PDF files store exact positions on a page, while Word documents flow text from line to line. Complex layouts, tables and unusual fonts may shift a little during conversion. Scanned pages contain pictures of text, so they arrive in Word as images.

Run it through OCR PDF. It recognises text in 10 languages, including English, Hindi, Spanish, French, German and Arabic, and you can pick up to three per document. After that you can search, copy or convert the text.

Yes. In Edit PDF, click a line of text and type over it. You can also add new text, images, shapes and drawings. Replacement text uses a standard font matched to the original style, so unusual fonts may look slightly different.

Use Unlock PDF. If the file needs a password to open, you’ll have to enter it, because we can’t break unknown passwords. Restrictions on printing or copying can usually be removed without one. Only unlock documents you’re allowed to.

Sign PDF places an image of your typed, drawn or uploaded signature on the page. Many everyday agreements accept this, but it isn’t a certificate-based digital signature, and the rules depend on your country and the type of document. If you’re unsure, check with the person who asked for the signature.

Yes. Redact PDF removes the marked text and images from the file itself instead of covering them with a black box, and it can also clear hidden metadata. Check the result before you share it.

Any public web page. HTML to PDF can’t open pages that need a login or that are only reachable on a private network.

If the PDF is damaged, run it through Repair PDF first. If it’s password-protected, unlock it first. For very large files, compress or split them before trying again. If it still fails, tell us which tool you used and what happened.
