Uploaded files are deleted as soon as your result is ready. We never keep copies.
No account, no ads, no analytics and no tracking cookies.
Messages you send us are used only to reply and deleted within 12 months.
We don’t sell or share personal data, and we don’t train AI on your documents.
1. Who we are
PDFLocket (“PDFLocket”, “we”, “us”) runs the website pdflocket.com and the free online PDF tools on it. PDFLocket is operated from India. For anything about this policy or your data, email contact@pdflocket.com or use our contact form.
This policy explains what information we handle when you use the site, why we handle it, how long we keep it and what choices you have. It covers pdflocket.com only, not other websites we link to.
2. Files you upload
To merge, convert, compress or otherwise change a document, your browser sends it to our server over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. There it is handled like this:
- Its own workspace. Every request gets a separate temporary folder in the server’s memory. Other requests can’t see it.
- Deleted right away. The folder, your original files and the results are deleted as soon as the result has been sent back to you, or when the request fails or reaches the five-minute time limit.
- No copies. We don’t back up uploaded files or results, so we can’t recover them later. Save your result when you download it.
- No human access. Files are processed automatically by software. Nobody at PDFLocket opens, reads or reviews them.
- No other use. We don’t analyse your documents, build profiles from them, share them or use them to train AI models.
A few tools work slightly differently:
- Compare PDF runs entirely in your browser. Your documents are never uploaded.
- Scan to PDF cleans up your photos in the browser, then uploads them to build the PDF.
- Passwords you type into Protect PDF or Unlock PDF are used for that one request and are not stored.
- For HTML to PDF, a separate, locked-down part of our system opens the web address you enter and saves it as a PDF. We don’t store the address or the page.
3. Information collected automatically
Like most websites, our servers write short technical log entries so we can keep the service running and secure:
- For each request: which page or tool was used, when, whether it worked and how long it took. Our application logs don’t include your IP address.
- When a file can’t be processed: the file name and the error message, so we can find and fix the problem. File contents are never logged.
- The web server in front of our site may keep standard access records (IP address, time, page requested and browser type) to protect the site against abuse and attacks.
Logs are rotated automatically: older entries are overwritten as new ones come in. We don’t archive them, and we don’t use them to identify or profile visitors.
4. Contact form and email
When you use our contact form, we receive your name, email address, the topic you choose and your message. When you email us, we receive your email address, your message and anything you attach.
We use this only to read and answer your message and to follow up on the issue you raised. Contact form messages are stored in our database and deleted once we no longer need them, and automatically after 12 months at the latest. Email sent to contact@pdflocket.com reaches us through our domain provider’s email forwarding service.
We won’t add you to a mailing list or send you marketing.
6. Why we use information
We use personal information only for the purpose it was given to us for:
- Processing your files, to provide the tool you asked for. Under the EU and UK GDPR, this is necessary to provide the service you request.
- Technical logs, to keep the site secure, prevent abuse and fix errors. This is our legitimate interest in running a safe service that works.
- Your messages, to reply to you, at your request.
Under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, we process personal data only for the specific purpose you provide it for, or for other uses the Act permits, and we keep it no longer than that purpose requires.
8. How long we keep information
| Information | How long we keep it |
|---|---|
| Uploaded files and results | Deleted when your request finishes (five minutes at most) |
| Technical logs | Rotated automatically and overwritten, not archived |
| Contact form messages | Until your request is handled, and 12 months at most |
| Emails you send us | As long as needed to handle your request |
9. Security
We protect information with encrypted HTTPS connections, per-request workspaces that are wiped automatically, a separate sandboxed service for converting web pages that can’t reach our internal systems, and access controls on our servers and admin area. No way of sending or storing data is completely secure, so we can’t promise absolute security, but we work to protect your data and fix weaknesses quickly.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- ask what personal information we hold about you and get a copy of it;
- have it corrected or completed;
- have it deleted;
- withdraw consent you gave earlier;
- object to or restrict some uses of it;
- nominate someone to exercise your rights for you if you die or become unable to (under India’s DPDP Act);
- complain to a data protection authority.
Because we don’t keep uploaded files, there is nothing stored from your use of the tools that we could return or delete. For messages you sent us, email contact@pdflocket.com or use the contact form with the topic “Privacy or data request”. We reply within 30 days and may ask you to confirm that the request comes from you.
Grievances. If you’re unhappy with how we handled your personal data, contact us first and we’ll do our best to put it right. If we can’t, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India, or to the data protection authority where you live.
11. Children
PDFLocket is a general-purpose tool and isn’t aimed at children. We don’t knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18 through our contact form. If you are under 18, please ask a parent or guardian to contact us for you. If you think a child has sent us personal data, tell us and we’ll delete it.
12. Visitors outside India
You can use PDFLocket from anywhere. Our servers may be in a different country from yours, so the files and messages you send us may be processed outside your country. The protections in this policy apply wherever that happens.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when our service or the law changes. The date at the top shows the current version. If a change significantly affects how we handle your information, we’ll announce it clearly on the site before it takes effect.
14. Contact us
