1. About these Terms
These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) apply to your use of pdflocket.com and its online PDF tools (together, the “Service”), which PDFLocket operates from India. By using the Service you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Service.
If you use the Service on behalf of a company or other organisation, you confirm that you’re allowed to accept these Terms for it.
2. The Service
PDFLocket offers tools to organise, convert, edit, sign, protect and otherwise work with PDF files. You don’t need an account to use them. We may add, change or remove tools and features, and set or change usage limits. Today a single request can include up to 20 files and 100 MB in total, and processing stops after five minutes.
The Service is currently free of charge. If we ever introduce paid features, we’ll show the price and any extra terms clearly before you pay anything.
3. Your files
- You keep ownership. Everything you upload, and every file you get back, remains yours. We claim no rights over it.
- Limited permission. You allow us to process your files only as far as needed to carry out the task you ask for. That permission ends when the files are deleted, which happens as soon as your request finishes.
- Your responsibility. You confirm that you have the right to use and process the files you upload, including any copyrighted material, confidential information or other people’s personal data in them, and that doing so doesn’t break any law or agreement.
- Keep your originals. We don’t store files, so we can’t recover them for you. Keep a copy of your originals and download your results right away.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the Service to:
- process content that is illegal or that infringes anyone’s intellectual property, privacy or other rights;
- remove passwords or restrictions from documents you aren’t authorised to open or change;
- forge documents or signatures, or otherwise mislead or defraud anyone;
- upload malware or files designed to harm our systems or other users;
- overload, disrupt or gain unauthorised access to the Service, including by using HTML to PDF to reach systems you aren’t allowed to access;
- send automated or bulk requests with bots or scripts, or build the Service into another product, without our written permission;
- copy, resell or reverse-engineer the Service, except where the law expressly allows it.
We may block requests, limit access or suspend use of the Service for anyone who breaks these rules or puts the Service or other users at risk.
5. Signatures and professional advice
Sign PDF places an image of your signature (typed, drawn or uploaded) on the document. It isn’t a certificate-based digital signature and doesn’t verify anyone’s identity. Whether such a signature is legally valid depends on your country, the type of document and what the other parties accept, and some documents require a specific kind of electronic signature or a handwritten one. You’re responsible for checking that it suits your purpose.
Nothing on PDFLocket, including our blog, is legal, financial or other professional advice.
6. Results and accuracy
We work hard to produce accurate results, but converting, recognising text (OCR), compressing and editing can change how a document looks or miss details, especially with complex layouts, unusual fonts or low-quality scans. Always check a result before you rely on it, send it to someone or delete your original.
This matters most for Redact PDF: before sharing a redacted file, make sure everything you wanted removed is really gone.
7. Our intellectual property
The PDFLocket name and logo, the website’s design, our software, and our texts and blog articles belong to PDFLocket and are protected by intellectual property law. You’re welcome to link to our pages and quote short extracts with credit, but you may not copy, republish or reuse our content or design without written permission.
The Service uses open-source software, which remains under its own licences. Nothing in these Terms limits the rights those licences give you.
8. Other websites and content
Our pages may link to other websites, and HTML to PDF converts pages published by others. We don’t control those sites and aren’t responsible for their content or policies. Converting a web page doesn’t give you any rights to its content, so respect its owner’s terms and copyright.
9. Availability
We aim to keep PDFLocket running smoothly, but we can’t guarantee that it will always be available, uninterrupted or free of errors. We may pause the Service for maintenance or updates, and we may change or discontinue all or part of it at any time.
10. No warranties
The Service is provided free of charge, “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent the law allows, we give no warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties that the Service is fit for a particular purpose, accurate or free from infringement.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, PDFLocket isn’t liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for any loss of data, documents, profits, revenue, business or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service or your inability to use it. Our total liability for all claims relating to the Service is limited to ₹1,000 (one thousand Indian rupees).
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, such as liability for fraud.
12. Indemnity
If you use the Service in breach of these Terms or the law and that leads to a claim against PDFLocket, you agree to cover the reasonable losses and costs (including legal fees) that result from it.
13. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of India. If you have a complaint, please contact us first: most problems can be solved quickly that way. If we can’t resolve a dispute within 30 days, the courts of India have exclusive jurisdiction.
If you use the Service as a consumer, you keep any protection that the mandatory consumer laws of your country give you.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The date at the top shows the current version. If a change is significant, we’ll announce it clearly on the site before it takes effect. If you keep using the Service after a change takes effect, you accept the updated Terms.
If any part of these Terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
